Always half full…

Ah, the age old question, is the glass half full, or half empty? Your answer is said to speak volumes about your view of life.

Hannah came home from school with an assignment involving two glasses. Her objective was to put water into the glasses so that one was half full, and the other half empty. I am still not sure what the point of the assignment was, but I watched as she dutifully pulled out two plastic cups to complete her task.

Filling the first one half full was no problem, but as she started working on making the other one half empty she stopped. I could tell she was trying to work it out in her head and she seemed a little frustrated. Finally, she turned to my wife and I and said, “I just can’t make it half empty.”

I just had to smile. I know she was just commenting on her assignment, but that simple phrase speaks volumes about her attitude in general. The world would be a much better place if more people had trouble making their glasses half empty.
